「竜宮物語」
むかし、ある海辺の村に浦島太郎という若者が年老いた両親と暮らしていました。
ある日、浜辺で子供達が一匹の子ガメをいじめているのを見た太郎は、子ガメを助けて海へ逃がしてやりました。次の日太郎が海で釣りをしていると大きな亀がやってきて、子ガメを助けてくれたお礼にと海の中の竜宮へと連れて行かれました。太郎が助けた子ガメは、竜宮の竜王の娘、乙姫だったのです。竜宮では美しい乙姫に歓迎され、魚たちの踊りやうたげ、ご馳走でもてなされ、楽しい毎日を過ごしました。
しかし時が経つにつれ太郎は村に残してきた両親のことが気になって、元気がなくなってきました。村へ戻ろうと心に決めた太郎に、乙姫さまは「この箱を持っていけば、いつの日かまたお会いできるかもしれません。でも、決して開けてはいけません」と言って玉手箱を渡しました。
太郎が亀の背に乗って村に帰ると、自分の家はなくなり村の様子がすっかり変わっていて、太郎の知っている人が一人もいなくなってしまっていました。太郎が竜宮で過ごしているうちに、地上では何百年も経っていたのでした。太郎は悲しさにくれ、乙姫さまの言葉も忘れて、ふと玉手箱のふたを開けてしまいました。
すると……中から白い煙がもくもくと立ちのぼり、たちまち太郎は白いひげのおじいさんになってしまいました。
Long, long ago a young man named Urashima Taro was living with his parents.
One day, while taking a walk along the beach, he saved a baby turtle that was being tormented by a group of children.
The next day, a large turtle approached him while he was fishing, and told him that the small turtle he had saved is the daughter of the Emperor of the Sea Ryuo, whose name is Otohime.
Taro stayed there for few days having a wonderful time enjoying a dance show of fish, and a gorgeous feast.
A few days later, he started to think of going back to his village in order to see his aging parents.
Before departing for his home, Otohime wished him well, handed him a mysterious box called tamatebako, and said, “If you have this box with you, we might be able to see each other again, but you must not open it.
”
When he returned home, everything had changed. His house was gone, and the people he knew are nowhere to be seen.
Later on, he discovered that a long time had passed since the day he left for the bottom of the sea.
Struck by grief, Taro opened the tamatebako that the princess had given him. In that instant, a puff of white smoke came out from the box and he suddenly aged.
「桃太郎鬼ヶ島外伝」
むかし、あるところにおじいさんとおばあさんが住んでいました。ある時おじいさんは山へ柴刈りに、おばあさんは川に洗濯に行きました。おばあさんが洗濯をしていると、川上から大きな桃が流れてきました。おばあさんは桃を持ち帰り、おじいさんと一緒に食べようと桃を切ろうとしたところ、桃が自然に割れて中から男の子が飛び出してきました。子どものいない二人は大喜びで、その男の子を桃太郎と名付けて大切に育てました。
すくすくと育ち大きくなった桃太郎は、鬼退治に出かけることになり、おばあさんが作ってくれたきび団子を持って鬼ヶ島に向かいました。
道中に犬と猿とキジを家来にした桃太郎は、鬼ヶ島で酒盛りをしていた鬼たちに奇襲攻撃しました。桃太郎の怪力と三匹のかみつき、ひっかき、つっつき攻撃で見事に鬼を退治しました。
「もう悪いことをしないか」「もうしません。許してください」
こうして鬼が悪いことをして集めた、村からうばった宝物をとりもどし、村へ持ち帰りました。
Once upon a time, there was an old man and old woman. One day the old woman went to a river to wash clothes and the old man went to a forest to collect firewood. While she was washing the clothes, she saw a big peach floating down the river. She plucked the big peach out from the river and took it back to their home. When the old man tried to cut the peach to eat it, the peach opened and suddenly a little boy came out. They were very happy and decided to adopt the boy into their family, since they didn’t have child.
They named him Momotaro. Momotaro grew up and he decided to go to Onigashima to defeat ogres. Before he left his mother gave him Kibidango. He attacked the ogres while they were drinking with 3 animals (a pheasant, dog, and monkey) that later became his companions on his way to Onigashima. “Do not create mischief anymore!” “Yes, we will never do so.” Afterwards, Momotaro and his companions went back to the village with many treasures.
